Square D
Everything we buy from Square DWhat we pay for and why
Value on switchboards comes down to the brand and series, the ratings on the nameplate, what is still installed inside, and condition. New surplus is worth the most. Failed units are worth their parts and metal.
Ratings and scope
| Voltage | Up to 600V AC |
|---|---|
| Ampacity | Commonly 800A to 4000A mains |
| Construction | Front-accessible, group-mounted or individually mounted devices |
| What we buy | Complete boards, sections, breakers, interiors |
| Photos we need | Nameplate, open sections, breaker labels |
| Freight | Included in the offer |
What drives the number
Group-mounted molded case breakers carry a large share of a switchboard's value. Photograph the breaker labels and we price them line by line.
Insulated case and power breaker mains are worth more than molded case mains. Bolted pressure switches and fused mains sell too.
Current series from Square D, Eaton, Siemens, and GE resell best. Older series still sell for parts and breakers.
Clean, dry, intact sections sell as switchboards. Water damage and missing covers push the board toward parts and metal value.
Reading the nameplate
The switchboard nameplate is usually on the front of the main section, sometimes inside the door. Shoot it with the voltage, ampacity, short-circuit rating, and series in frame. Then a close shot of each breaker label.
Freight and rigging
Sections typically split for shipping, with each running several hundred to a couple thousand pounds. Breakers can stay in for shipping or come out and pallet. We plan it.

FAQ
Yes. Failed units are worth their parts, breakers, copper, and steel. Tell us what failed if you know.
Send the other photos and whatever you know. Illegible nameplates route to a slower queue, but the lead still gets a call.
We do. Liftgate truck, flatbed, or crane, depending on the size. Tell us if the unit is truck accessible.
Yes. Once your electrician has the board de-energized and disconnected, we arrange removal and freight.
Sometimes. A current series board sells whole. On older boards the breakers can outweigh the rest of it.
Selling the breakers separately? Each family has its own page.
Switchboard brands we buy most.
Plus every other name on a plate, including the ones that went out of business decades ago.
Selling more than one kind of gear? Put it on one offer. Mixed loads ship together and the freight math gets better for both of us.
