Read the catalog number

How to read a Eaton Cutler-Hammer DG general duty safety switch catalog number.

DG is general duty. Next digit is poles, next is voltage (2 = 240 Vac), next is amps (1 = 30, 2 = 60, 3 = 100, 4 = 200, 5 = 400, 6 = 600 A). Then F = fusible without neutral, N = fusible with neutral, U = non-fusible. Then G = NEMA 1 or R = NEMA 3R. The last letter is a design code (B on 30 to 100 A, K on 200 to 600 A).

What drives the number
  • 200 to 600 A general duty switches carry more value than 30 to 100 A units.
  • New surplus in the carton brings the most.
  • Bulk lots of one catalog number are easier to place than mixed singles.
  • We do not publish prices. Metal, demand, and condition move them. You get a written number for your unit.
From the yard

DG and DH share one numbering structure, so the same decoding works for both. The design letter at the end shifts from B to K at 200 A on general duty switches.

Photos we need

Three photos price most Eaton Cutler-Hammer DG general duty safety switch offers.

01

The label

The catalog number, straight on and in focus. For a pallet, one label per model plus a count.

02

The unit

Front, sides, and anything damaged. Doors open if it has them.

03

The lot

The whole pallet or shelf. New in box: the box labels.

The label is inside the door. The catalog number on it encodes duty, poles, voltage, amps, fusible or not, and the enclosure. That one photo is usually all we need.
