Read the catalog number

How to read a Square D general duty safety switch catalog number.

D is general duty fusible and DU is general duty non-fusible. Next digit is poles (1, 2 or 3). Next is voltage (1 = 120 Vac plug fuse, 2 = 240 Vac). Last digit is amps (1 = 30, 2 = 60, 3 = 100, 4 = 200, 5 = 400, 6 = 600 A). N adds a factory neutral. Enclosure suffix: none = Type 1, R = 3R, RB = 3R with bolt-on hub provision.

What drives the number
  • 200 to 600 A general duty switches carry more value than 30 and 60 A units.
  • New surplus in the carton brings the most; loose used 30 A units carry little value individually.
  • Bulk lots of the same catalog number are easier to place than mixed singles.
  • We do not publish prices. Metal, demand, and condition move them. You get a written number for your unit.
From the yard

Square D general duty numbers follow the same pattern as heavy duty but the voltage digit is 1 or 2 only, because general duty is a 240 V line. The 1 voltage code marks a 120 V plug fuse switch like the D211N. Factory modifications are not offered on general duty switches.

Photos we need

Three photos price most Square D general duty safety switch offers.

01

The label

The catalog number, straight on and in focus. For a pallet, one label per model plus a count.

02

The unit

Front, sides, and anything damaged. Doors open if it has them.

03

The lot

The whole pallet or shelf. New in box: the box labels.

The label is inside the door. The catalog number on it encodes duty, poles, voltage, amps, fusible or not, and the enclosure. That one photo is usually all we need.
