What it is

Photograph the tank nameplate showing catalog number, voltage, ways and the dielectric (oil, FR3, E200 or SF6). Photograph the control or relay nameplate and the fluid level gauge if present.

What drives the number
  • The dielectric (mineral oil, FR3, E200 or SF6) drives handling and freight, so it is confirmed from the nameplate before an offer.
  • Units with complete Tri-Phase controls or Idea relays are worth more than units with missing controls.
  • 35 kV units and 900 A or 1200 A ratings bring more than standard 15 kV, 600 A units.
  • Tank leaks, low fluid and corroded bases reduce value.
  • We do not publish prices. Metal, demand, and condition move them. You get a written number for your unit.
From the yard

VFI is the Cooper Power Systems design that came to Eaton when Eaton completed its acquisition of Cooper Industries on November 30, 2012, so older nameplates read Cooper and newer ones read Eaton. The fault interrupters and switches sit inside a sealed tank of fluid or gas behind a dead-front, lift-up roof enclosure. The control can be set for single-phase or three-phase tripping. Because the same frame comes in oil, FR3, E200 or SF6, always confirm the dielectric from the nameplate before quoting freight and handling.

Photos we need

Three photos price most Eaton Cooper VFI vacuum fault interrupter switchgear offers.

01

The nameplate

Straight on and readable. Voltage, ratings, model, and serial in frame.

02

Inside

Doors open: bus, devices, controls, and anything burned or missing.

03

The whole unit

A wide shot plus what is around it, so we can plan the pick.

The nameplate is usually on the inside of a door or on the dead-front barrier. Shoot it straight on with the voltage class, BIL, continuous and interrupting ratings, and the model or catalog number in frame. On SF6 gear, photograph the pressure gauge too.

How selling works
  1. 01
    Send the nameplate

Photos or a list with counts. Text, email, or the form.

  2. 02
    We read it and reply

During business hours, by whatever contact method you picked.

  3. 03
    You get a written offer

Per unit or per lot. Freight is in the number.

  4. 04
    We pick up and pay

Our truck and our rigging. Wire or ACH within 3 business days of a passed inspection.

Freight: Pad-mounted switchgear runs from roughly 2,000 to well over 6,000 pounds depending on ways and insulation. Most units lift from the base with a forklift or a truck-mounted crane and ride a flatbed. We plan the rigging. You tell us what is around the pad.

FAQ

Selling a Eaton Cooper VFI vacuum fault interrupter switchgear: what people ask.

Yes. We buy oil, FR3, E200 and SF6 VFI units. Units built before 1980 may contain PCBs; we sample before an offer is final.
