What it is

Photograph the S&C nameplate showing the model (for example PMH-9) and the six-digit catalog number with its R suffix, such as 55232R3. Then open the switch and fuse compartments and photograph the fuse mountings and any fuse holders or refill units still in place.

What drives the number
  • 25 kV units and the larger multi-way models (PMH-9, PMH-11, PMH-19) draw more buyer interest than single-function units.
  • Complete fuse mountings and Fault Fiter holders add value. Empty fuse compartments are common because S&C ships fuse components separately.
  • Enclosure condition matters: rust at the base flange and roof undercoating damage are the first things a buyer checks.
  • PMH-4 and PMH-8 were sold only when the ultimate user was an electric utility.
  • We do not publish prices. Metal, demand, and condition move them. You get a written number for your unit.
From the yard

S&C ships PMH units less fuse components, so a gear pulled from service can have SML-20 end fittings, SML-4Z holders or Fault Fiter mountings depending on what the owner bought. The doors open only with a pentahead socket wrench through the Penta-Latch mechanism, so bring one when inspecting. Each Mini-Rupter switch has a folding operating handle stored in the switch hub pocket, and fuse compartment doors have storage racks for spare fuse units and the Grappler tool. Terminal pads take cable up to 1000 kcmil on switch and bus terminals and 4/0 on fuse terminals.

Photos we need

Three photos price most S&C PMH and PME pad-mounted gear offers.

01

The nameplate

Straight on and readable. Voltage, ratings, model, and serial in frame.

02

Inside

Doors open: bus, devices, controls, and anything burned or missing.

03

The whole unit

A wide shot plus what is around it, so we can plan the pick.

The nameplate is usually on the inside of a door or on the dead-front barrier. Shoot it straight on with the voltage class, BIL, continuous and interrupting ratings, and the model or catalog number in frame. On SF6 gear, photograph the pressure gauge too.

How selling works
  1. 01
    Send the nameplate

Photos or a list with counts. Text, email, or the form.

  2. 02
    We read it and reply

During business hours, by whatever contact method you picked.

  3. 03
    You get a written offer

Our truck and our rigging. Wire or ACH within 3 business days of a passed inspection.

Freight: Pad-mounted switchgear runs from roughly 2,000 to well over 6,000 pounds depending on ways and insulation. Most units lift from the base with a forklift or a truck-mounted crane and ride a flatbed. We plan the rigging. You tell us what is around the pad.

FAQ

Selling a S&C PMH and PME pad-mounted gear: what people ask.

Yes. Most PMH units we see come out of service with partial or no fuse components. We price the gear on its switches, bus and enclosure, and add value for any usable SML or Fault Fiter parts.
