How to read a Elastimold MVS and MVI molded vacuum switchgear catalog number.
The catalog number starts with an optional prefix (R riser pole, N network, W wind farm, none for subsurface), then MV, then S for switch or I for interrupter, then 1 or 3 for phases, then the fixed digits 21. Next comes the voltage class: 15, 27 or 38 (15A, 15B and 38B are higher-current interrupter versions). Then the end interface and main interface: 2 is a 200 A bushing well, 6 is a 600 A bushing. Letters after that are accessories, such as PS for a parking stand or MO120A for a 120 Vac motor operator.
Not sure? Type it into the catalog lookup or text a photo of the label.
- Three-phase modules (MVS3, MVI3) and 38 kV ratings bring more than single-phase 15 kV modules.
- Motor operators and complete controls add value.
- Higher-current interrupters (25 kA 38B, 20 kA 15A) are worth more than 12.5 kA standard units.
- Torn or cracked rubber and damaged bushings reduce value.
- We do not publish prices. Metal, demand, and condition move them. You get a written number for your unit.
These are compact enough to fit in tight pad-mount, vault and riser-pole spaces, and a single-phase MVS weighs about 30 lbs. MVI interrupters carry an electronic control that needs no batteries or external power, with field-selectable fuse or relay curves. The modules are hotstick operated, and motor operators were offered as 120 Vac (MO120A) or 12 to 24 Vdc (MO12D) add-ons. Multi-way gear built from these modules carries its own catalog number for the assembled enclosure.

The nameplate
Straight on and readable. Voltage, ratings, model, and serial in frame.
Inside
Doors open: bus, devices, controls, and anything burned or missing.
The whole unit
A wide shot plus what is around it, so we can plan the pick.
The nameplate is usually on the inside of a door or on the dead-front barrier. Shoot it straight on with the voltage class, BIL, continuous and interrupting ratings, and the model or catalog number in frame. On SF6 gear, photograph the pressure gauge too.

Photos or a list with counts. Text, email, or the form.
- 02We read it and reply
During business hours, by whatever contact method you picked.

Per unit or per lot. Freight is in the number.
- 04We pick up and pay
Our truck and our rigging. Wire or ACH within 3 business days of a passed inspection.
Freight: Pad-mounted switchgear runs from roughly 2,000 to well over 6,000 pounds depending on ways and insulation. Most units lift from the base with a forklift or a truck-mounted crane and ride a flatbed. We plan the rigging. You tell us what is around the pad.
Selling a Elastimold MVS and MVI molded vacuum switchgear: what people ask.
Elastimold was a Thomas & Betts line, and ABB bought Thomas & Betts in 2012. We buy units under any of those labels.
Yes. We buy individual modules as well as complete multi-way pad-mounted assemblies.
Yes. The R prefix marks riser-pole versions with air bushings, and we buy those as well.
Both. New surplus, used, untested, and failed all sell. Condition sets the number, not whether we buy.
