Who we buy from

We buy surplus transformers from scrap metal recyclers.

We pay above scrap on units that can be remanufactured.

Why you have surplus

Units come in as scrap that are worth more intact.

We see the same units from scrap metal recyclers over and over. Here is what usually shows up and what we do with it.

Transformers cross your scale every week, and some of them are worth multiples of shred price intact. A 500 kVA padmount that runs is not 8,000 pounds of mixed metal, it is a resale unit. The trick is knowing which is which before the shear decides for you.

We pay above scrap on remanufacturable padmounts and polemounts, buy failed units on their copper and core, and take pile lots with illegible nameplates. You keep feeding the shear with what belongs in it and sell us what does not.

How the deal goes

One offer, one truck, paperwork you can file.

Send photos of the pile, or of individual units if something looks intact. We sort remarketable from scrap off the photos, offer per unit or per lot, and schedule the truck. Undrained oil-filled units are fine; we would rather sample than buy a drained unknown.

FAQ

What scrap metal recyclers ask us first.

Depends on rating, brand, and whether it tests. Common ratings in working condition can bring several times metal value. Send the nameplate photo and we will tell you which pile it belongs in.
